About Fika Midwifery
Fika Midwifery is currently operated by owner and nurse midwife Maura Winkler. The practice opened in August 2017 and rapidly grew to a scale that requires the addition of a second midwife, Lydia Doublestein, CM, in July 2018. Fika Midwifery is the only midwife-owned private practice in the Western New York that provides holistic women’s health care, individual or group prenatal care, lactation consulting services, and options for home or hospital birth. As a midwife at Fika Midwifery, you will also have an opportunity to collaborate with Birthing Center of Buffalo, the only birth center in the WNY area. Birthing Center of Buffalo is also one of the few physician-owned birth centers in the United States that provides full service women’s healthcare, including abortion.

Comfort with practicing very autonomously as a midwife and utilizing full midwifery scope of practice, including newborn care
Knowledge and understanding of supporting physiologic childbirth in the hospital and home birth setting, including providing physical and emotional labor support
AMCB & NRP certification
Must be innovative, passionate, self-assured, and progressive
